The statistics are still sobering. Women remain significantly underrepresented as subjects and sources in the Canadian media. Research commissioned by Informed Opinions shows that men account for 71 per cent of all those quoted or interviewed for newspaper articles and broadcast segments.

At Carleton, we know it’s important to support diverse voices in the public sphere. That’s why the Department of University Communications conducts monthly media training sessions to help people feel more comfortable doing interviews, writing blogs and opinion pieces, and using social media to disseminate their views and publicize their research.

Join us on Oct. 10, 2018. Listen to Shari Graydon talk about how you can find your voice and speak with some of the women at Carleton who are getting their voices heard.
