Ford to expand COVID-19 emergency by closing non-essential services and says schools won’t reopen April 6

Premier Doug Ford is expanding Ontario’s state of emergency to shut down all non-essential services to curb the spread of COVID-19. Only essential manufacturing and supply-chain providers as well as shops like supermarkets, pharmacies, LCBO outlets, and takeout restaurants would be allowed to remain open.

Premier Doug Ford’s Conservative government has already earmarked $304 million for COVID-19 relief efforts. On Monday, Ford said the government plans to expand the state of emergency.

Premier Doug Ford is expanding Ontario’s state of emergency to shut down all non-essential services to curb the spread of COVID-19.

It is expected that only medical offices, supermarkets, pharmacies, LCBO outlets, banks, and takeout restaurants will be allowed to remain open after the details are finalized Tuesday.
